"Internet Explorer don't perform"

I am a web page developer and each time I design a web page I have to take in to consideration that internet explorer will most likely not support more advanced feathers such as AJAX that is used to enhance web page browsing performance. What does it help me to be able to implement AJAX if most people wont be able to see the full page properly?

Pros
  • The only pro that I can find is that most computers comes with internet explorer already installed, therefor you don't need to download a explorer separately.
Cons
  • IE is very very slow, and it does not even compare to the other explorers.
